Airline Lobby Assails EU Plan Dictating Sustainable Fuel Use (1)

The head of the global airline industry body attacked European Union proposals for carriers to increase the use of sustainable aviation fuel according to a set timetable.

The plan, known as ReFuelEU Aviation and unveiled in July, would raise airline costs without any meaningful impact, since carriers themselves are powerless to increase the production of so-called SAF, International Air Transport Association Director General Willie Walsh said in an interview Wednesday.
