Adhesives Maker Seeks $7 Million for Abandoned Container Cleanup

An adhesives manufacturer is seeking $7 million to clean up abandoned, untreated wastewater containers left on a North Carolina property, according to a complaint in federal district court.

Tailored Chemical Products Inc. investigated contamination left by a defunct wastewater treatment company, DAFCO Inc., and its successor. Tailored Chemical took action to address the contaminants, but shouldn’t be responsible for the entire bill, the company said in a Monday complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.

Tailored Chemical makes adhesives, including synthetic resins and other specialty chemicals that it sells and distributes to customers....
