States File New Challenge to Lightbulb Efficiency Rollback (1)

The U.S. Department of Energy’s decision not to implement a rule requiring more efficient lightbulbs this year will hurt consumer wallets and worsen pollution linked to climate change, states and environmental groups say in dual lawsuits filed in federal appeals court.

The environmental groups, including the Natural Resources Defense Council, and 16 states and other jurisdictions, including California and New York, filed dual petitions for review of the department’s decision against moving forward with the stronger efficiency standards, citing the Energy Policy and Conservation Act and Administrative Procedure Act, according to court documents filed Tuesday in the U.S. Court of ...
