Vail Resorts’ 401(k) Targeted in Latest Challenge to Plan Fees

Ski resort operator Vail Corp. is accused of charging its workers excessive 401(k) plan fees and offering poorly performing retirement investments, according to a new lawsuit filed by a plan participant in Colorado federal court.

The Vail Resorts 401(k) Retirement Plan is expensive and out of line with similarly sized retirement plans, Debra Kurtz alleges in a proposed class action filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. According to Kurtz, 18 of the Vail plan’s 27 investment options could have been obtained at lower cost and with a materially better rate of return.
