Trump HHS Birth Control Rule Exemptions Inapplicable in Oregon

Oregon employers with religious and moral objections to providing employee health insurance that covers birth control may not take advantage of federal rules that would allow them to opt out.

An order blocking the federal government from putting the rules into effect in 13 states will be extended to include Oregon, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said July 2.

Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. previously stopped the final rules from taking effect in California, New York, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, Washington, Minnesota, Connecticut, North Carolina, Hawaii, Vermont, Rhode Island, and the District of Columbia. Those...
