Sprint Retirees Get Nod for $3.5 Million Pension Math Settlement

A $3.5 million class settlement benefiting Sprint Communications LLC retirees received initial court approval, paving the way for resolution of litigation challenging how the T-Mobile unit calculates pensions for certain married workers.

The agreement is slated to boost the monthly payments of 1,009 Sprint retirees who chose pension packages that include post-death payments for their surviving spouses. It represents about 36% of the retirees’ total estimated damages, according to the settlement motion.
