Social Security Administration: Wage Base Increase for 2022 (IRC §3101)

The Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance taxable wage base is to increase to $147,000, in 2022, up from $142,800 in 2021, the Social Security Administration said October 13. This will make the maximum 2022 OASDI portion of the Federal Insurance Contributions Act tax payable by each employee is $9,114, or 6.2 percent of the wage base, up from $8,853.60. The announcement was made in conjunction with the release of the Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits increase of 5.9 percent for 2022.
