The New York Times is in the crosshairs of a lawsuit that could redefine how much employers pay when they exit pension plans for unionized workers.
The newspaper successfully persuaded a federal trial court in New York to reject the way the Newspaper and Mail Deliverers’-Publishers’ Pension Fund determined that the NYT owed $33 million after it pulled out of the pension plan.
Attorneys for the plan tell Bloomberg Law they intend to appeal the decision, but are first waiting to see whether the court sends the case back to an arbitrator who originally approved the liability amount. The ...
