The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation is pushing filing deadlines and premium payments for retirement plan sponsors to July 15, tracking similar relief granted by the IRS.
The change, which applies to submissions previously due from April 1, 2020 to July 14, 2020, does not cover “time-sensitive filings” on the PBGC’s exceptions list—such as defaulting on a loan or terminating a plan—the agency said in announcing the shift late Friday.
It also does not appear to include benefit plans that file at the end of the calendar year; their standard filing deadline is July 31.
