Pension Fund for SEIU Workers Gets Disability Challenge Trimmed

A pension fund covering Service Employees International Union workers in New York City must face part of a lawsuit challenging how it awards disability pension benefits, after a federal judge dismissed a benefits claim while greenlighting a fiduciary breach claim.

The proposed class action, filed by former building handyman Michael Lardo, accuses the Building Service 32BJ Pension Fund of wrongly denying workers’ claims for disability pension benefits.
