Laid-Off Workers Get Free Health Insurance in Senate Stimulus

Senate Democrats’ stimulus package would let Americans keep their employer-sponsored health insurance at no cost through Sept. 30 after they’ve left a job, Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) said in a statement.

  • The change increases to 100% the proposed subsidies of insurance premiums for workers eligible for COBRA after they lost their job or had their hours reduced; subsidies were 85% under the House stimulus (H.R. 1319)
