GE 401(k) Class Certified, Judge Resolves Class Counsel Spat

General Electric Co. is now facing a certified class action covering hundreds of thousands of participants in its 401(k) plan, after a Monday ruling by a federal judge in Boston.

Judge Indira Talwani of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts granted the employees’ motion for class certification—which GE didn’t oppose—after resolving a dispute among the attorneys’ vying to represent the class. Talwani largely maintained the status quo in the case by appointing attorneys from four law firms to represent the class.
