Florida Uber Drivers’ Worker Status Case Sent to Arbitration

Uber Technologies Inc. drivers in Florida can’t move forward in court with their class action alleging they were misclassified as independent contractors, a federal judge said Tuesday.

The effort to forge ahead as a class of more than 1,000 workers who say they are owed unpaid wages in a case filed by a single driver was rejected by Judge Aileen Cannon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, leaving the matter to move forward in individual arbitration.
