Dallas Pension Withdrawal Challenge Sent to Texas High Court

A challenge to an amendment that limits the withdrawals of certain pension benefits by Dallas police officers and firefighters will likely be resolved by the Texas Supreme Court.

Dallas police officers and firefighters allege that a 2017 amendment to the Deferred Retirement Option Plans that eliminated lump-sum and adjusted monthly payment options is unconstitutional. Under the amendment, the program only allows an annuitized payment option.
