A federal district court in Minnesota denied an employee’s motion for summary judgment and granted Principal Life Insurance Company’s motion for summary judgment in this action challenging the start date of the employee’s long-term disability benefits in this ERISA action. The court rejected the employee’s claim that the benefit start should’ve been retroactive to 2011, soon after the date of his fall, and instead said that the benefit start date under the policy’s language was six months before his notice.
