Redi-Carpet Sales of Utah, LLC was properly granted summary judgment on a claim by its former officer manager, who was initially allowed to work from home after giving birth, that she was discharged because of her pregnancy and because she requested maternity leave, the Tenth Circuit ruled. She failed to show that the explanations for her discharge—the office was plagued with problems and needed an in-person office manager, she was unable to immediately be in the office full-time, and her at-home work wasn’t satisfactory—were pretext for sex discrimination, the court stated.
