BP Wins Round in Suit Over 1989 Pension Plan Conversion

BP Plc defeated most of a lawsuit challenging a 1989 pension plan conversion after a federal judge rebuked how the retirees who filed suit pleaded their case.

Judge Andrew S. Hanen of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas dismissed all the lawsuit’s claims, save one claim seeking a court-ordered reformation of the pension plan at issue in the case.

And Hanen, who repeatedly expressed frustration at how the complaint was structured, ordered the retirees to restate this claim in a way that complies with federal rules.
