American Pilots’ Bid for Military Pay Paused for FedEx Ruling

American Airlines Group lost its bid to immediately appeal a ruling in favor of pilots seeking military leave pay. A federal judge in Pennsylvania put the case on hold while the Third Circuit considers a similar lawsuit against FedEx Corp.

American wanted to fast-track an appeal in a case asking whether the airline must pay pilots their regular wages while they’re on leave for military service, arguing that different judges in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania disagree about the central question driving the dispute.
