American Flight Attendants Falter in Age Bias Suit Over Buyouts

Flight attendants accusing American Airlines Inc. of age discrimination in two voluntary buyout programs during the Covid-19 pandemic suffered a setback when a federal judge in California dismissed their claims and expressed some willingness to transfer the case to Texas.

The flight attendants failed to show that they were constructively discharged under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act by the March 2020 buyout program, Judge Beth Labson Freeman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California held Thursday.
