‘Tampon Tax’ Still Charged in 26 States Despite Medical Status

Clare Pfeiffer had run out of menstrual products for herself and her teenage daughter in January 2020. She went to a drug store in Michigan to buy tampons and pads when she noticed a 6% sales tax on the receipt.

“This is unfair,” she thought, as other health care products aren’t taxed, but the products she needs to buy every month were.
