Scholz Pushes Back Against Calls for German Fiscal Stimulus

German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz says the country’s economic situation doesn’t require a rushed fiscal response, arguing that growth momentum is expected to revive toward the end of the year.

  • If warranted in the future, the government is able to react. He also expressed confidence that EU and U.S. will be able to reach a trade deal, telling reporters in Washington “I believe it’ll work.”
