Companies that move to California from areas with restrictive laws on abortion and LGBTQ+ rights would have a stronger chance of winning tax credits aimed at increasing employment and capital investment in the state, according to a proposal from Governor
The Democratic governor included the proposal in his revised $227.4 billion budget plan for the fiscal year that begins July 1. His office oversees the California Competes income tax credit, which has awarded $1.6 billion in credits since 2014 to companies that commit to grow or relocate in the state.
