Key Republican Urges U.S., France Patience on Digital-Tax Talks

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley urged the Trump administration and France’s government to allow time for negotiations over a global digital tax framework to play out, saying their self-imposed deadline is unrealistic.

  • A deal “can’t be done in the next 15 days,” the Iowa Republican says
  • NOTE: The two sides on Tuesday said they’ve given themselves 15 days to strike a deal to avoid an escalation in the trade dispute
    • The U.S. says the French levy unfairly targets large American companies
