IRS to Make Notices More Accessible to Blind, Settling Lawsuit (2)

The IRS by the end of January 2022 will have new procedures in place to allow blind taxpayers to request certain tax notices in Braille, large print, or electronic formats, the agency announced Wednesday.

The post-filing notices covered by the alternative media process (AMP) will include those about additional taxes or penalties owed, the IRS said in a news release. The agency will also consider whether it can add audio notices to the list of alternative formats that can be requested and work with third-party groups to improve the accessibility of tax forms and documents—among other steps.
