India Prime Minister’s Office to Review GST Revenue, Compliance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office will convey its concerns on “poor” Goods and Services Tax collection, a government official said, asking not to be identified citing rules.

  • Modi’s office will push for better compliance with, and plugging loopholes in, the tax framework, the official said.
  • P.K. Mishra, principal secretary to Modi, will hold the meeting with state chief secretaries and GST commissioners via video conferencing.
  • Senior finance ministry officials, including Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey, will be present in the meeting.
