Ways and Means Takes Up Crypto Bills

A slew of legislative cryptocurrency taxation policies will be up for consideration at a House Ways and Means Committee hearing Tuesday, a top priority for the committee’s GOP leadership.

The committee circulated the discussion drafts late last week to committee members, floating legislative proposals that would set rules on reporting digital asset gains and losses, decide when newly created tokens can be counted and taxed as income, and extend some securities trading rules to cryptocurrencies.
