Wisconsin DOR Publishes Information on Federal, State Income Tax Reporting Under Marital Property Act

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue Jan. 1 published information on federal and state individual income tax reporting under the Marital Property Act. As part of marital property reform, Wisconsin adopted joint income tax returns for married persons. If spouses file separately, the income that each spouse must report is determined under marital property law rather than common law. Taxpayers should use this publication in preparing their 2021 return.
