Wayfair Bills in Limbo as Legislatures Pause for Pandemic (2)

Halting the spread of Covid-19 has led state lawmakers to hit the pause button on their 2020 sessions, meaning several Wayfair-related bills could become casualties of the pandemic.

In Georgia, for example, Uber Technologies Inc. and Lyft Inc. could wind up having to collect and remit the state’s sales tax April 1, when the state’s marketplace facilitator law takes effect. They’d be exempt under a compromise bill recently passed in the state House and Senate before the Georgia Legislature took a time out March 13.
