Ohio Senate Seeks 8% Income Tax Cut Fueled by Revenue Surplus

The GOP-controlled Ohio Senate is banking on strong revenue projections in a budget bill that would reduce overall income tax rates by 8% and largely preserve a pass-through entity income tax deduction.

The Senate introduced a state operating budget bill June 11, raising the ante for the House-passed budget proposal in a game of lowering tax rates. While the two bills would treat some exemptions differently, the overall trend is downward for all Ohioans’ income taxes.
