Hawaii Governor Wants to Use $1 Billion Surplus for Tax Rebates

Hawaii Gov. David Y. Ige wants to use some of the state’s $1 billion surplus to give $100 to every taxpayer and dependent.

The Democratic governor during his final state of the state address Monday asked lawmakers to take action to allow the state to issue refund checks totaling $110 million.
