GM Offered $50 Million in Tax Credits Under Missouri Bill

General Motors Co. would be eligible for up to $50 million in tax credits under a bill passed by the Missouri Legislature.

The goal of the bill is to induce GM to make a major expansion of its plant in Wentzville, around 40 miles west of St. Louis. The Wentzville plant, open since 1983, employs about 4,600 workers.

GM has been looking to bring innovation to its manufacturing processes, and considers the Wentzville plant a good candidate for a big investment, according to Maggie Kost, a spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Economic Development. GM hasn’t yet made...
