Federal Prosecutors Probing N.J.’s Tax Breaks, Inquirer Says

Federal law-enforcement officials have interviewed potential witnesses in an investigation of New Jersey’s $11 billion corporate tax-incentives program, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing three unnamed people with knowledge of the matter.

Employees of the U.S. Attorney’s office are focusing on development in Camden, N.J., where $1.6 billion in tax breaks were promised, the newspaper reported. Staff for U.S. Attorney William McSwain, of the Eastern District of Philadelphia, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation declined to comment, according to the newspaper.
