District of Columbia Mayor Signs Emergency Law Canceling 2021 Tax Sales for Certain Properties

The District of Columbia Mayor July 12 signed an emergency law providing that no property tax sale is held for Class 1 or Class 2 properties during calendar year 2021 due to COVID-19. The law includes a measure requiring the Chief Financial Officer to mail a notice of the cancelation to each person who was mailed a notice of tax delinquency to the same address to which the notice of tax delinquency was mailed.
