California Voters Could Expand Property Tax Break for Seniors

California voters will decide in November whether to expand property tax breaks for state residents who are older than 55, have disabilities, or lose their homes in a disaster.

The Assembly’s 56-2 vote Friday places the the proposed change to the state Constitution on the statewide ballot. Lawmakers said it could result in the sale of 75,000 homes and increase housing supply in areas where jobs may be plentiful but housing is scarce.
