EU Budget Commissioner Welcomes Sweden’s New Tax Stance

European Union Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn says he’s encouraged by Sweden’s change of heart over plans to introduce an EU-wide tax on plastic bags and to let 20% of revenues stemming from emissions trading go directly into the EU budget.

Speaking at a seminar in Stockholm, Hahn said he “very much welcomed” the recent statements from Swedish European Union Minister Hans Dahlgren, who had earlier told Swedish Radio about the policy change.
