UNITE HERE Local 33 in Connecticut has abandoned its efforts to represent graduate student teachers at Yale University, ending a long battle to organize the campus.
While the Yale effort appears to have ended for now, graduate students at Pennsylvania State University received news last week that keeps their unionization goals afloat: They can organize under state law.
The Office of the Executive Secretary at the NLRB notified Yale’s attorney Feb. 13 that the board’s regional director for the area approved the union’s request to withdraw the case.
Local 33 said it ended the organizing effort to protect its rights. ...
