Yale Doctors Can Pursue Suit Over Boss’s Alleged Sex Harassment

Six female doctors in the Yale Department of Anesthesiology can pursue claims against the university and Yale New Haven Hospital Inc. for purportedly turning “a blind eye” to alleged sexual harassment by their supervisor, the District of Connecticut ruled.

The March 12 lawsuit was brought under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and Title IX of the 1972 Educational Amendments Act.

Yale and YNHH were wrong that dismissal was warranted on the Title IX claims because employees are only allowed to sue for workplace sex discrimination under Title VII, the court said. It joined a split on the ...
