Worker Fired After False Shooting Alarm Loses Retaliation Suit

Rich Products Corp. defeated a retaliatory discharge suit from a worker who made multiple unsubstantiated accusations against his coworkers, including that one was planning a workplace shooting, because the plaintiff failed to show that the company’s stated reasons for firing him were pretextual, the Sixth Circuit said.

Bill Sourinho cleaned production equipment in Rich Products’ Murfreesboro, Tenn., facility.
