White House Battles Covid, Calendar in Bid to Fill DOL Openings

The Trump administration is searching for a permanent leader of its union oversight office, one of several vacancies in top Labor Department posts that could prove difficult to fill in a pandemic-influenced election season.

The opening atop the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards, created when the previous director died in May, triggered a White House effort to fill the position this year with a politically appointed replacement, according to four sources briefed on the situation who asked for anonymity to discuss the internal process.
