Walmart, Capital One, Settle Claim of Bias Against Non-Citizens

Walmart Inc., CarMax Inc., Capital One Financial Corp., and Axis Analytics LLC settled with the Justice Department over claims of hiring bias against non-US citizens in connection with job postings on a college career services website.

The companies will pay a total of more than $331,000 in civil penalties as part of the settlements, the agency announced Wednesday.

Separate settlements were announced in June with 16 other employers, including auditing firm KPMG LLP, over job postings on the platform, which is operated by the Georgia Institute of Technology.
