Wage Case Over $1-a-Day Immigrant Detainee Work Program Revived

A federal judge in Washington state has reversed course and decided not to throw out Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s case over an immigrant detainee work program that pays as little as $1 per day.

Judge Robert J. Bryan of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington Oct. 9 said he won’t actually issue an earlier proposed order that would’ve ended the case against the GEO Group Inc., one of the largest operators of private prisons and detention centers in the U.S.
