Video Game Workers Toy with Unionizing

May 20, 2019, 10:56 AM

Hundreds of video game developers are coming together to call for unionizing. It’s a grassroots campaign that has the backing of the nation’s largest voice on labor, the AFL-CIO.

Pivotal Moment: It could prove a transformative fight for organized labor if it’s successful, bringing unions into a tech-heavy industry and boosting membership numbers.

Quick Progress: In the course of a year, unionizing the video game industry went from mumblings at an industry conference to a full-blown international campaign, as organizers seek better hours, pay, and increased job security. Andrew Wallender reports.
