Verizon to Pay $675,000 to Resolve Hiring-Bias Allegations

Verizon Communications Inc. will pay $675,000 to settle Labor Department allegations of race and gender bias in hiring at locations in New Mexico and Oklahoma.

The department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs alleged the company discriminated in hiring against Native American applicants for customer service specialist positions at a Verizon Wireless facility in Albuquerque, N.M. The alleged bias occurred from January 2013 through November 2015.
