Vanderbilt University allegedly removed an orthopaedic surgeon and professor from her leadership positions and cut her salary nearly in half because of her sex and complaints of gender discrimination, according to a new lawsuit.

Rick Wright, the chair of the orthopaedic surgery department, “abruptly and arbitrarily” replaced Ginger Holt as vice chair of education and director of the orthopaedic residency program with straight males in March 2022, the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee Tuesday said.
