University Officials Immune From Professor’s Claims Over Firing

A group of administrators at the University of North Texas were immune from a former medical school professor’s due process claims based on his firing over sexual harassment allegations, the Fifth Circuit ruled Tuesday.

Ralph Walsh Jr. attended a medical conference in Seattle with two other faculty members and two medical students, where a formal banquet became “festive and somewhat boisterous.” After the conference, one of the students filed a Title VII claim with the university, alleging Walsh sexually harassed her at the banquet.
