Strike Looming for AT&T in Southeast

The likelihood of a telecommunications worker strike in the Southeast grew after a contract between the Communications Workers of America and AT&T expired Aug 10.

The lapsed agreement covers 22,000 telecommunications workers in the region. The union says it’s concerned about health care, wages, and job security. The two sides were unable to come to a consensus on a new deal after extending a previous expiration date by a week.
