The California Public Utilities Commission unanimously adopted the proposed settlement, which ends a two-year-old fight over Uber refusing to provide identifying information for about 3,000 people who said they suffered sexual assaults while using its ride-hailing service in 2018. A 2019 company safety report included perspectives from those who alleged they were assaulted. The CPUC oversees ride-hail operators as transportation network companies.
