UAW’s New Leader Focuses on Politics in First Address

The United Auto Workers will have its eyes on the political ball for the next four years under the new leadership of President Gary Jones.

In his first official address as president of the organization, Jones promised the union would stand up against anti-union forces through political means. He challenged members sitting in a Detroit convention hall June 14 to increase local unions’ political donations to the UAW’s voluntary political action committee, V-Cap.
