Two Child-Care Aid Proposals May Get Expedited U.S. House Vote

House leadership is fast-tracking consideration of two measures addressing child care, skipping committee-level consideration because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The House Committee on Rules will meet Friday on the Child Care Is Essential Act (H.R. 7027) and the Child Care for Economic Recovery Act (H.R. 7327), to set the terms of floor consideration for both measures.

The two bills, introduced by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) and Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), skipped normal committee-level markups and follow similar Republican measures introduced earlier this week.
