Trump Trade Deal Spurs Fresh Criticism From Labor, Health Groups

The Trump administration’s trilateral trade agreement with Mexico and Canada will lead to higher drug prices that will harm American consumers, labor and health groups said in a Nov. 5 letter to President Donald Trump’s top trade official.

Twenty-nine companies and organizations are urging the administration to revise medical provisions in the USMCA agreement, formerly known as the North American Free Trade Agreement or NAFTA. Signatories to the letter include the AFL-CIO, the Association for Accessible Medicines, AARP, and Kaiser Permanente.
